:: about the product ::

at lil hipster every article is hand-made, one-of-a-kind and designed by d’nita.
most of my favorite designs are made using recycled (o.k.a. pre-owned) fabrics
for reasons i list below as well as for their esthetic value. i start out by selecting
cool color combinations and then toy around with textures and build from there.
the design process is only part of the fun as i also love to get to work on the
sewing machine. i take great pride in the high quality products i’m able to
produce.

because everything is one-of-a-kind i will not do repeats, however i will fill special
requests if for instance you see something and would like a similar item in a
different color combination. i also take requests for twins, this is the only
exception to my one-of-a-kind policy! i must say though, because i do much of
my work in recycled fabrics it can be hit-and-miss if you’re especially particular; it
really depends on what I can get my hands on. ***for any special request please

***recycled fabrics: i tend to use a lot of recycleds; first it reflects my desire and
attitude in regards to our planet and most importantly the society in which we live,
and secondly, I find that designing within limits is far more exciting! ***you can
rest assured that if i’m using a recycled article that it has been pre-cleaned and is
in like-new condition. and, i always make notation of the fact on each finished
product that was born of reused materials.

content and cleaning: each article i sell is accompanied by (though not a sew-in
label) a tag letting you know of the fabric content and it’s care instructions.

sizing

lil hipster sizes run infant up to 5 or 6 depending. much of the lil hipster line is in the accessory category and therefore run a wider size range. i do my best to size items with detailed measurements rather then the s-m-lg standard. ***sizing on hats is listed in terms of actual inches in circumference (unstretched) along with the “average” size. example: hat b is 18” and is suited for the average 2 yr old.

if you’re wondering what’s up with the shopping link, let me give you the rundown.

first because i’m small-time, i couldn’t justify spending huge amounts of money on a full blown e-commerce website. second, as we (web designer and myself) struggled with the issue of inventory control on one-of-a-kind items we determined that etsy.com was the way to go.

about etsy.com

etsy.com is an ebay-style (minus the auction) internet shopping center with a dedication to the hand-made seller. the cool thing about etsy is that i’m able to post items as soon as they are complete and ready to sell. once someone selects a one-of-a-kind item and makes a purchase it then becomes unavailable to anyone else thus solving the inventory issue. one tiny drawback…

***please note when shopping at etsy.com you can place multiple items from multiple stores in your shopping cart; however these items do not become unavailable to other shoppers until you go through the checkout. just because it’s in your shopping cart doesn’t mean it’s yours (SORRY). if you want something and have any concern about loosing it to someone else you may want to go through the checkout before you keep browsing!

***before any of you can make a purchase at etsy.com you have to sign-up. this requires you to enter a username and password along with an e-mail address where etsy can send you a confirmation. it’s easier if you do this before you try to checkout, just a heads-up!

payment methods

payment is handled through etsy.com. i only except paypal/credit card payments. i apologize if this causes a problem for you, but it really is the only safe way for both parties to be secure with the on-line purchase. ***in salt lake city? see locals only below.

shipping info

shipping costs are paid directly through etsy.com. i use u.s.p.s. priority mail. i calculate the costs by pre-weighing each item, it averages approximately 4.99 to 9.99.

gift wrap

when shopping in the lil hipster store at etsy.com you can choose to pay for a gift wrap. you do this by selecting the “gift wrap” item and then selecting the number of items you want wrapped. at the end of the checkout you can send me a message with details, please let me know if you’d like a special note included.

if you live here in the salt lake city area and would like to avoid shipping costs, shop on-line and select “other” under payment method, this will lead you to a message that tells you to contact the seller about payment. at this point we can make arrangements for a pick-up and either pay with a paypal account or cash.

it’s most important to me that you are happy with your lil hipster purchase. this is why i take great care in providing high quality photos of each item as well as writing detailed descriptions. however, if for some reason you are dissatisfied with your purchase, you are welcome to return it for a full refund (minus shipping and handling costs) or an exchange. ***i will only accept items in original condition, unworn and received within 14 days of purchase. ***all items shipped out are accompanied by a return/exchange form, please follow the instructions.
